Strategic Planning Consultancy Services for the Development of Motorways in Greece
SALFO was appointed by the Ministry of Public Works of Greece to undertake a Strategic Transportation Planning Study for the whole rural road network of the country to support the Motorway Development Programme in 2006.
Following detailed surveys across the national grid, pertaining to traffic flow counts, origin-destination and stated preference interviews, a national transportation model was created, and multiple scenarios were examined. The key corridors connecting the largest cities and provinces of the country were identified, which were subsequently tendered for upgrading and operation and maintenance contracts as Concessions.
